What can Non-contact Measurement do for me?The best vision-based non-contact measuring systems have several advantages over conventional, tactile dimensional tools. As well as allowing much faster results – generally many times faster than contact instruments and systems – non-contact equipment provides control of measured points and avoids the distortion of surfaces caused by contact. Digital photographs and video are possible as a record of measurement or defect and features that are impossible to measure conventionally can be identified and quantified using lighting techniques.
Why OGP?In non-contact measurement, particularly where low contrast, substrate features and topography are concerned, lighting is a critical element. What the lens does not see, the machine cannot measure. OGP has developed the most powerful set of lighting tools and controls available, including their sophisticated ring light, which is years ahead of its competitors. Accurate and repeatable measurements are made possible by its ability to determine edges and contours. LED lights used by OGP are constant and do not degrade over time, so no measurements can be trusted consistently.
The OGP zoom lens unit allows a degree of automation unimagined by many operators. Its accuracy means that measurement can take place at various magnifications without affecting results and without operator intervention.
In cases where laser or probing capability is preferable to perform certain functions, OGP’s multi-sensor capability ensures the best of all worlds. Automatic multi-sensor routines are accommodated within the same part programmes so no change of software or routine is necessary.
With the entire field of view being covered in 0.3 seconds, OGP technology ensures the fastest, accurate measurements. Multiple features using many measurement points can, effectively, be measured simultaneously. Control over points measured ensure that features such as ingress, flash or other faults can be identified and avoided in results to give correct, unaffected measurements. This feature both identifies faults and avoids scrapping production runs through aggregated measurements.
Another feature of OGP’s award-winning software is the automatic display of colour-coded results in GO/NOGO format or in data and control charts, allowing multi-level SPC and real time process control.
